289 million dirhams to expand the “Hasyan Station” water network

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has awarded a new contract worth 289 million dirhams, to carry out development work aimed at strengthening the water transmission network associated with the “Hasyan Plant” project in Dubai, one of the largest seawater desalination projects in the world using reverse osmosis technology, which the authority is developing according to the independent water producer model.

The contract includes the supply, installation, testing and operation of glass-reinforced (GRE) water transport pipelines with a diameter of 1,200 mm and a length of 32 km.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, stressed that “The Hassyan station project constitutes an essential tributary to support the water security system in Dubai, and enhances the achievement of the UAE Water Security Strategy 2036 and the Integrated Strategy for Water Resources Management in Dubai 2030,” noting that the new lines contribute to enhancing the flexibility of the network and its ability to meet the increasing demand for water, thus enhancing sustainability and reliability for future generations.

The project is expected to be completed within 18 months, which will contribute to supporting the advanced infrastructure of the water sector in Dubai.
