He confirmed that "We must have it"indicating that Landry will lead this mission.
The latter pledged to work on making Greenland "Part of the United States". In a post on the X platform on Sunday, shortly after his appointment, he addressed Trump by saying: "It is my honor to serve you voluntarily in making Greenland part of the United States"
Denmark and Greenland condemned the move.
Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Friedrich Nielsen and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen recalled in a joint statement on Monday that "National borders and state sovereignty are based on international law".
They added that "Another country cannot be annexed. Even by invoking international security"confirming that they are waiting "Respect our common territorial integrity".
