Discussing strengthening cooperation between the Federal National Council and the Japanese Parliament

ABU DHABI, December 23 / WAM / His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defense, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federal National Council in Abu Dhabi, received today His Excellency Ambassador Kiiichi Iwamoto, Assistant Minister and Director General of the Middle East and Africa Affairs Department at the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the presence of Her Excellency Sarah Muhammad Falaknaz, a member of the Council.

During the meeting, the strength of the strategic and historical relations between the United Arab Emirates and Japan, which are based on the foundations of common interests and mutual respect, was emphasized, and ways to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields were discussed, especially in the sectors of advanced technology, innovation, economy, energy, and space.

The two sides stressed the keenness of the two friendly countries to advance strategic relations towards broader horizons, in a way that supports common interests and achieves benefit, growth and prosperity for their people.

The two parties praised the efforts made by officials of the two countries to sign the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, as it represents great importance in strengthening the strategic partnership between the two sides.

During the meeting, mechanisms for enhancing cooperation and communication between the Federal National Council and the Japanese Parliament were discussed, especially at the level of regional and international parliamentary participation, which contributes to enhancing coordination and consultation on issues of common interest, especially in light of the growing role of parliamentary diplomacy in supporting bilateral relations and bridging cooperation between peoples.

The two sides affirmed the common principles that bring the two countries together, foremost of which is working for peace, development and prosperity, and spreading the values ​​of tolerance, coexistence, dialogue and respect for others, as they are essential pillars for achieving peace and sustainable development and enhancing international cooperation, in addition to their role in confronting extremist ideology and containing conflicts.

The two parties exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East and Asia, stressing the importance of giving priority to positive dialogue and diplomacy in resolving conflicts, the necessity of protecting civilians in conflict areas, and ensuring that humanitarian aid reaches the affected people in a safe and unhindered manner.
