After two people were injured in an accident, Dubai Police warns against driving vehicles during medical conditions

The Dubai Police General Command has warned of the dangers of driving vehicles while feeling extremely tired and sleepy, or in cases of exposure to health problems such as low or high blood sugar, high blood pressure, psychological disorders, and bouts of loss of consciousness, stressing that such cases may cause serious traffic accidents resulting in deaths or serious injuries..
Director of the General Traffic Department at Dubai Police, Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, said that some drivers may underestimate simple symptoms, but in an instant they may turn into a direct cause of a fatal accident, pointing out that loss of consciousness while driving is one of the most dangerous causes leading to serious accidents, as the driver loses complete control within a few seconds, endangering his life and the lives of others..
He added that these incidents confirm the need to be careful about conducting periodic medical examinations, especially for drivers who suffer from chronic diseases or drive for long, continuous periods that may lead to physical and psychological fatigue, increasing the possibility of exposure to sudden health complications..
He also stressed the importance of taking sufficient rest periods during long trips, and stopping immediately upon feeling any abnormal health symptom, dizziness, or sudden fatigue..
This came after an accident occurred on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road as a result of the driver suddenly losing control of the vehicle after being exposed to a state of unconsciousness, which led to the vehicle swerving and colliding with the cement barrier. The accident resulted in two people sustaining injuries ranging from severe to moderate, and they were taken to the hospital to receive treatment..
He added that traffic accident experts immediately moved to the accident site to conduct investigations and collect evidence, while traffic patrols took over organizing traffic, securing the site, facilitating the arrival of ambulance and rescue vehicles, and working to remove the damaged vehicle from the road to ensure that traffic movement returns to normal quickly without disruption..
Brigadier General Jumaa bin Suwaidan noted the importance of taking sufficient rest before driving in anticipation of road surprises, and avoiding fatigue that may endanger the lives of drivers and road users. He also called for adhering to road lanes, following traffic safety instructions, and stopping driving immediately upon feeling fatigued to avoid serious accidents, in order to preserve everyone’s safety..
