Artificial intelligence determines the destinations of families during the holiday season

Community groups and families in the Emirates have resorted to using artificial intelligence tools to organize their programs during the holiday season until the end of 2025, confirming to “Emirates Today” that these tools contribute to shortening time and effort, and facilitate the selection process, by presenting multiple nominations suitable for spending the holidays.

Cybersecurity experts have warned of risks related to privacy and personal data protection, as a result of the increasing reliance on artificial intelligence tools, stressing that sharing sensitive information during vacation planning may expose users to unexpected digital risks.

A recent study, conducted by Kaspersky, revealed that 92% of users in the UAE use artificial intelligence tools during the holiday season, an indication of the rapid transformation of this technology into a part of the details of daily life, even during periods of rest.

The results of the study, which was conducted before the end of the year, showed that the use of artificial intelligence is no longer limited to planning travel or shopping, but rather includes organizing time, suggesting activities, managing budgets, and providing a type of emotional support, especially among the Millennials and Generation Z.

Ahmed Abdel Rahim (29 years old), a private sector employee residing in Dubai, said that he relied on artificial intelligence to plan his trip during the end of the year holiday.

He added: “I used it to choose the hotel and set a daily program of activities, and it made many details easier for me, but I was not thinking about the amount of data I entered during that.”

Maryam Hamdan, a mother of three children who lives in Abu Dhabi, stated that artificial intelligence has become a tool to help in family decisions during the holidays.

She said: “We relied on it to choose the travel destination, organize the budget, and suggest activities for the children. It helped us save time, but we did not initially pay attention to the sensitivity of some of the information, especially that related to children.”

As for Siraj Al-Din Amouri (20 years old), a university student from Sharjah, he confirmed that his use of artificial intelligence went beyond the academic aspect.

He said: “I used it to organize my time during exams and vacation, and sometimes to relieve stress, and I did not think about the issue of privacy until later.”

The study showed that 86% of users, between the ages of 18 and 34, plan to use artificial intelligence during vacation, making this group the most dependent on digital tools.

On the other hand, experts at Kaspersky warned that the holiday season usually witnesses a decrease in the level of digital caution among users, coinciding with an increase in electronic activities.

They said, “Increasing reliance on artificial intelligence during the holidays may lead to sharing personal data without realizing the risks associated with that.”

Kaspersky stressed the importance of taking advantage of the benefits of artificial intelligence while maintaining data security, calling on users to verify the reliability of applications, read privacy policies, and avoid sharing sensitive information.
