In response to what was published in the “Sikaik” corner regarding the suffering of drivers on the Corniche Street (Al Mamzar) in Sharjah, some of them crossing the road incorrectly, which poses a threat to their lives and causes great confusion due to vehicles driving at high speeds, proposing to place artificial speed bumps along the road to reduce speed or increase pedestrian crossing areas, the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority thanked the drivers for their constructive comments and their concern for the safety of pedestrians and road users on the Corniche Street (Al Mamzar), Noting that it had seen the observation received regarding unregulated pedestrian crossing and the resulting traffic risks, especially with the high speeds of some vehicles, the authority explained that the specialized teams will study the site on the field in coordination with the concerned authorities, to consider appropriate solutions that contribute to enhancing traffic safety, including evaluating the need to add artificial speed bumps or increase and organize pedestrian crossing places, in accordance with the approved standards, and the authority stressed its constant keenness to follow up on the comments received from the public, and deal with them within continuous improvement plans. For the road network in the emirate, which contributes to providing a safe and comfortable transportation environment for everyone.
