Cooperation between Dubai Municipality and the Hatta Traders Council to support the National Imprint Project for Emirati Honey

DUBAI, December 29 / WAM / Dubai Municipality signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Hatta Traders Council, which operates under the umbrella of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, with the aim of enhancing cooperation to support the “National Footprint for Emirati Honey” project, which contributes to enhancing the quality and safety of Emirati honey and raising its level of reliability locally and internationally.
The memorandum was signed during the activities of the tenth season of the “Hatta Honey Festival”, where Dubai Municipality was represented by Dr. Naseem Mohammed Rafie, Acting Executive Director of the Environment, Health and Safety Foundation in Dubai Municipality, while the Hatta Traders Council was represented by Dr. Mana Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Hatta Traders Council, in the presence of a number of officials from both sides.
The memorandum aims to support the establishment and development of an integrated national database for Emirati honey based on laboratory tests and modern analysis techniques, in addition to botanical and geographical discrimination studies, which contributes to documenting the characteristics of Emirati honey, protecting its reputation and enhancing its competitiveness in the markets.
Under the memorandum, Dubai Municipality will undertake the implementation of specialized laboratory analyzes within the National Fingerprint Project for Emirati Honey, manage and develop the national database and provide the necessary technical and scientific support, while the Hatta Merchants Council is committed to providing honey and pollen samples from the agreed-upon areas according to the production seasons and providing the municipality with the associated data, in addition to facilitating field visits and cooperating in media and awareness activities.
Dr. Naseem Mohammed Rafie said that this memorandum comes within the framework of Dubai Municipality’s keenness to adopt advanced scientific solutions that contribute to enhancing the quality and safety of local food products, protecting the consumer, and raising the reliability of Emirati honey, thus enhancing its position as a national product that enjoys high standards of quality and transparency.
She added that the project represents a model of integration between government agencies and the private sector, and contributes to supporting the national product based on knowledge and modern technologies.
Dr. Mana Al Kaabi expressed his pride in cooperating with Dubai Municipality to promote and support local products of Emirati honey through seasonal studies of all local honey, which will extend for years to come, contributing to the establishment of a scientific database that will be an introductory and detailed source and reference for Emirati honey and pollen for every geographical region in the country, which will help distinguish between the types of Emirati, local, and imported honey through the local honey footprint, which will play a major role in knowing the compositions and properties of honey from a chemical and physical standpoint. And promoting its medical uses according to precise scientific and research foundations.
