Dubai, 29 December / WAM / The General Assembly of the Asian Modern Sailing Federation held its annual meeting today, on the sidelines of the Asian Cup of Modern Sailing, at the headquarters of the National Olympic Committee in Dubai, with the participation of representatives of 31 countries from various parts of the Asian continent.
Mohammed Al-Obaidly, member of the Board of Directors of the Asian Federation and Chairman of the Development Committee, reviewed the future development programs of the Federation, which is considered one of its largest committees, and includes unifying professional categories in Asian countries, and supporting an increase in the number of international race directors and referees during the next three years.
Al-Obaidli praised the efforts of the members of the various committees in the federation, praising in particular the role of the “Para” committee, and the efforts made to spread the category, expand the base of participation in it, and increase the number of tournaments allocated to it on the continent level.
The General Assembly witnessed the presentation of the Federation’s competitions program for the year 2026, in addition to discussing the preparations for the 2026 Asian Games, a review of the achievements of 2025, and the recommendations of the General Assembly of the International Sailing Federation.
The attendees also discussed the calendar of continental competitions in Asia, including the beach games hosted by China, in addition to voting on a number of proposed amendments to the federation’s constitution, where amendments were adopted that are in the interest of developing modern sailing on the continent.
The attendees praised the good organization of the UAE and the Al Hamriyah Cultural and Sports Club for the Asian Cup of Modern Sailing Championship, stressing the success of the event on both the organizational and technical levels.
