"Health – Abu Dhabi" and "together" Applications are now open for grants from the Healthcare Research and Innovation Fund 2026

ABU DHABI, 31st December / WAM / The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with the Community Contributions Authority – Ma’an, announced the opening of applications for grants from the Healthcare Research and Innovation Fund 2026 to researchers, healthcare service providers and innovators, with the aim of supporting high-quality research that contributes to accelerating innovation in the fields of precision medicine, early detection of diseases, and enhancing data-based clinical decision-making.
The 2026 edition focuses on priority areas that meet the long-term health needs of Abu Dhabi, and include precision medicine and omics diagnostics, cell and gene therapy, cancer diagnosis and treatment, metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, neuroinflammatory and degenerative diseases, behavioral disorders and mental health, reproductive endocrinology and infertility research, in addition to public and population-based health interventions.
Applications are evaluated according to scientific merit, feasibility, collaborative value, and their connection to the emirate’s strategic health priorities.
Her Excellency Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, confirmed that the launch of the 2026 edition renews the commitment to supporting innovation and scientific research that has a long-term impact on community health, by investing in an advanced scientific environment that enhances cooperation and transforms innovative ideas into practical achievements that achieve better health results.
For his part, His Excellency Abdullah Humaid Al Ameri, Director General of the Community Contributions Authority – Ma’an, explained that the Authority continues to unify efforts and establish partnerships with the public and private sectors and civil society to address social priorities, including health, and support researchers and innovators to achieve a positive and sustainable social impact that enhances the health of future generations.
The Healthcare Research and Innovation Fund works to support research with applied value and tangible impact in clinical care settings in Abu Dhabi, enhancing its position as a growing global center for life sciences and research excellence.
The 2024-2025 edition saw more than 150 applications received, and grants were awarded to 12 projects focused on immune disorders, improving the diagnosis of iron deficiency anemia, and innovation in cancer prevention.
