المملكة: Arab praise for holding a comprehensive conference in Riyadh to address the issue of southern Yemen
The Secretary-General welcomed League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit, at the invitation of the President of Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Rashad Al-Alimi called for holding a comprehensive conference in the city of Riyadh, to discuss just solutions to the issue of the south, expressing his appreciation for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s speed in responding to this request on the part of Yemeni legitimacy, and announcing its readiness to host and sponsor this conference with the participation of the southern components.
Aboul Gheit said, in a statement today: "Setting South Yemen has known historical dimensions, and includes fair aspects that must be discussed at the dialogue table within a comprehensive Yemeni framework."stressing that the policy of imposing a fait accompli does not benefit the cause of the South, but rather harms it the most by exposing the country to further fragmentation and disintegration.
In this regard, the Secretary-General recalled the position of the Arab League, as stated in its repeated resolutions regarding the Yemeni crisis, which stems from the commitment to the unity of Yemen and the integrity of its national territory.
The official spokesman for the coalition forces affirmed their commitment to protecting and supporting the stability of Shabwa Governorate and the forces present there and not to enter any forces except in coordination with the governor
Organization of Islamic Cooperation
The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, also expressed his praise and appreciation for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hosting a comprehensive conference in the city of Riyadh, in response to the request of the Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, and with the participation of various southern components; With the aim of discussing just solutions to the southern issue, within the framework of a comprehensive and responsible dialogue, and with the participation of the various southern components.
The Secretary-General stressed that this hosting embodies the rational policy and insightful wisdom of the Kingdom’s leadership in reuniting, rejecting violence and raising the voice of peace, stressing that sincere and inclusive dialogue remains the only way to achieve lasting peace and the desired stability in the Republic of Yemen.
He explained that addressing the issues Nationalism, especially the southern issue, can only be achieved through dialogue, understanding and consensus, taking into account its historical and social dimensions, and avoiding the country from further fragmentation, suffering and division.
The Secretary-General stressed that Yemen’s unity, security and stability represent a fundamental pillar for the security and stability of the entire region, appreciating the Kingdom’s pioneering role in supporting Yemeni legitimacy and its sponsorship of dialogue paths, calling on all components for positive and constructive participation. In a way that serves the best interest of Yemen and the aspirations of its people and enhances regional peace and stability.
The Southern Issue in Yemen
The Muslim World League appreciated the Kingdom’s announcement of its response to the request of the Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, to hold a comprehensive conference in the city of Riyadh, bringing together all the southern components at the dialogue table; To discuss just solutions to the southern issue.
In a statement by the League, His Excellency its Secretary General and Chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, on behalf of the League and its international academies, bodies and councils, praised the Kingdom’s response to the request of the Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, stressing that it comes as a continuation of the Kingdom’s consistent and sincere approach in supporting the Yemeni people with all its components, and its constant aim to maintain peace and stability in the Republic. The State of Qatar also expressed its appreciation for the Kingdom hosting a comprehensive conference to discuss just solutions to the southern issue, within the framework of its continued support for the efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in the sisterly Republic of Yemen.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed, in a statement today, the efforts made by the legitimate Yemeni government to support the course of the Yemeni dialogue and address the issue. In this context, the Ministry appreciated the request of the Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council to hold a conference in the city of Riyadh to sit around the dialogue table to discuss just solutions to it, which reflects his keenness and inclination toward dialogue as a way to address national issues.
The Ministry stressed the importance of the participation of all southern components in a constructive manner that upholds the interest of the brotherly Yemeni people in the conference scheduled to be held in the city of Riyadh, and the commitment to the outcomes of the national dialogue as the consensual framework and comprehensive mechanism for reaching a comprehensive political solution. It meets the aspirations of the Yemeni people with all its components, and preserves the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Yemen.
Regional and international efforts
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that unilateral declarations and actions taken without consultation and consensus between the Yemeni parties, and without engaging in a serious and responsible dialogue, would lead to a slide towards chaos, harming the interests of the brotherly Yemeni people and undermining the chances of reaching a sustainable political settlement.
The Ministry affirmed its support for The State of Qatar fully supports all regional and international efforts aimed at advancing the political path, which contributes to ending the Yemeni crisis through dialogue and peaceful means, and in a way that serves the security and stability of Yemen and the region.
