The Arab Parliament for Children discusses ways to empower generations and expand the scope of specific programs

Sharjah, February 20 / WAM / During a meeting held the day before yesterday in the Emirate of Sharjah, the Parliament discussed paths for developing parliamentary work directed at children, in the presence of His Excellency Ayman Othman Al-Barout, Secretary-General of the Arab Parliament for Children, Sheikh Saif bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Assistant Secretary-General, Elias bin Awad Al-Maani, President of the Arab Parliament for Children, Abdullah Bou Jiri, First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, and Mai Jalal, Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, along with a number of committee heads.
The attendees discussed strengthening programs aimed at empowering Arab children and consolidating their presence in the joint Arab action system emanating from the League of Arab States.
These efforts come in line with the insightful vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, which made the development of the Arab child an essential pillar for comprehensive development and building the conscious Arab human being capable of positive participation in his society.
The meeting included an expanded dialogue and extensive interventions that addressed ways to further enhance cooperation with the Sharjah Children and Youth Shura Council, in order to achieve integration of roles and exchange of experiences in the areas of empowerment and community leadership. The attendees also reviewed various programs aimed at continuing to prepare the Arab Parliament member for children cognitively and parliamentarily, in addition to coordinating to include a broader base of Arab children in editing the Parliament magazine, in a way that reflects Arab cultural diversity and enhances the values of belonging and identity.
The Commission discussed a number of proposals submitted by male and female members of Parliament, which included several topics intended to be included in the upcoming work agenda, within the framework of a comprehensive vision that seeks to make the Arab child an active partner in dialogue and opinion-forming, and to enhance the culture of participation from the early stages.
The participants stressed the importance of the next stage, which requires expanding the scope of specific programs and deepening the institutional impact of Parliament, as a comprehensive Arab platform concerned with refining the personality of the Arab child and developing his parliamentary awareness.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the attendees stressed that the Arab Parliament for Children, which was launched from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, represents a pioneering Arab model in investing in childhood as the true wealth of nations.
This entity embodies the commitment of the Emirate of Sharjah to support joint Arab initiatives aimed at building a conscious and responsible Arab generation, capable of carrying the message of the future and contributing to the renaissance of Arab societies on solid foundations of awareness, knowledge and belonging.
