Maduro’s deputy is sworn in as interim president of Venezuela

Delcy Rodriguez, Vice President of ousted Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who pledged to work with the administration of US President Donald Trump, was sworn in on Monday as the country’s interim president at Parliament headquarters.

Rodriguez was sworn in before her brother, Jorge Rodriguez, President of the country’s National Assembly.

“I came with regret because of the suffering that the Venezuelan people were subjected to after the unlawful military aggression against our homeland,” Rodriguez said, raising her right hand to take the oath, adding: “I came with regret because of the kidnapping of two heroes.”
