Sharjah Arab Creativity Award announces the names of 18 winners in its 29th session

Sharjah, 7 January / WAM / The Sharjah Department of Culture announced today the names of the winners of the twenty-ninth session of the Sharjah Award for Arab Creativity “First Edition”, which comes under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs in the Department.
Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Qaseer, Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs at the Department and Secretary-General of the Award, said that the first place winner in the field of poetry was Ahmed Salama Salim Abed from Egypt for his collection “Another Name for Things,” and the first winner in the short story was Ahmed Adel Muhammad Nasser Al-Sulami from Yemen for his collection “The Hidden Pulse of the Mountain,” and the first winner in the field of novel was Mai Al-Mawladi Al-Arabi Dhaw from Tunisia for her novel “The Resurrection of Tannery.”
The first winner in the field of theater was Zubaida Hassan Raja from Syria for her play (The Queue), and first place in children’s literature was won by Hussein Nima Hussein from Iraq for his play (The Book of Puzzles). In the field of criticism, Ahmed Muhammad Morsi Abdullah from Egypt won first place for his study (Manifestations of Aesthetic Experimentation in the Contemporary Short Story: Transformations of Form and Vision).
Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Qaseer explained that the number of winners in this session reached 18 from various Arab countries in the six literary fields of the award: poetry, novel, short story, theatrical script, children’s literature, and criticism.
He added that the Sharjah Award for Arab Creativity confirms with each new session its creative essence in searching for every creator who takes his first steps in the world of Arabic literature, and it is an embodiment of the vision of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, as His Highness laid the foundations for this award, which is considered pioneering with its creative approach to target young creators. It is an exceptional cultural vision that revolves around the search for the first literary achievement by male and female writers from various countries of the Arab world, which gave the award an identity and cultural specificity as a celebratory space and incubator. For creators in six vibrant and diverse literary fields.
He pointed out that the award contributed, through its successive sessions, to creating a rich and diverse creative environment and provided the Arab library with hundreds of poetry, novels, short stories, criticism and theatrical publications. He pointed out that the award attracted in this session more than 500 participating literary works from Arab countries, in addition to contributions from foreign countries by Arabic-speaking writers, in a scene that demonstrates the importance of the award to writers and confirms its keenness to open its doors in each session to discover new creators.
The Secretary General of the Award explained that the participating texts were distributed in the fields of poetry (118) entries, short stories (153 entries), novels (130 entries), theater (79 entries), and children’s literature (45 entries), as this course was allocated to the poetry group directed at children aged 8-11 years, and literary criticism (25) entries, as this course was devoted to studying the manifestations of experimentation in the contemporary short story.
