Sharjah, 8 January / WAM / The Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SPARK) announced the launch of the “Sharjah Creativity Accelerator” as a new initiative from “Headquarters 39”, the newest creative center in the Emirate of Sharjah, with the aim of supporting creative talents and enabling them to develop prototypes and expand design-based projects, thus enhancing the creative economy in the emirate.
The accelerator is held at Headquarters 39, which provides an integrated environment that brings together design, experimentation, manufacturing and business development, allowing innovators to transform their ideas into commercially applicable products and reach markets. The three best projects graduating from the accelerator receive cash prizes, in addition to support for developing prototypes for all participants, and incentives and promotional opportunities within the complex’s innovation system.
Khaled Hassan Al-Banna, Director of Headquarters 39, said that the launch of the accelerator represents a strategic step to consolidate Sharjah’s position as a regional center for innovation by combining creativity, design and entrepreneurship, stressing the importance of creative industries in building the knowledge economy and enabling creative people to develop projects that are viable and sustainable.
The first edition of the accelerator focuses on the areas of design, including furniture design and collectible art pieces, as the program provides specialized mentorship programs, practical support for product development and prototypes, in addition to guidance in the areas of pricing and brand building.
The program begins with an open call for applications through which 20 participants from designers or creative studios are selected, and concludes with the organization of a final presentation day in front of a jury that includes experts and representatives of relevant authorities.
The launch of the “Sharjah Creativity Accelerator” comes within the emirate’s efforts to support culture and innovation and enhance the creative economy system.
