The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture confirmed the abundant production of Cropsand raising production efficiency.
The Ministry clarified within the framework of the objectives of the awareness campaign that it launched under the slogan "Our winter is right" In its second edition, citrus production during the winter season recorded more than (123) thousand tons of Lemon, in addition to (35.7) thousand tons of oranges, referring to their various varieties such as lemon, orange, tart, tangerine, grapefruit, and kumquat; Which reflects the diversity of local agricultural production and its ability to meet market needs.
Demand for citrus consumption
She pointed out that the demand for citrus consumption contributes to enhancing public health due to their high nutritional value, in addition to supporting local farmers, reducing food waste, and reducing the environmental impact resulting from long supply chains.
The Ministry stressed, as part of its efforts to enhance agricultural sustainability and achieve food security, that adopting conscious consumption behaviors and choosing seasonal local products are among the basic axes. In supporting environmental sustainability and enhancing food security, calling on community members to interact with the campaign "Our winter is right"And to contribute to the preservation of natural resources, in line with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
It is noteworthy that Al-Hariq Governorate in the Riyadh region is currently witnessing the holding of the activities of the Tenth Citrus Festival, which aims to support national production, empower local farmers, develop their technical and marketing capabilities, and enhance integration between tourism activities and programmes.
