"CATL" China showcases innovative solutions during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week

ABU DHABI, 15 JANUARY / WAM / The Chinese company CATL, the largest battery manufacturer in the world, during its participation in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026, showcased an integrated set of energy storage and electric mobility solutions, in a move that reflects its interest in expanding its investments and business in the UAE.

Michael Wing, President of the Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) business in the Middle East, said in statements to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, that participating in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week is an important milestone for the company, praising the quality of the exhibition and the level of organization, and stressed that the strong relations between China and the UAE, along with the encouraging investment environment and supportive policies, make the country an ideal destination for Chinese companies.

Wing added that CATL accounts for about 40% of the global share in the market for electric vehicle batteries and energy storage systems, noting that the company not only offered traditional energy storage solutions, but also presented advanced innovations that include smart chassis platforms, autonomous driving solutions, mobile and stationary battery containers, and fast charging systems, in addition to integrated solutions covering the value chain from manufacturing to commercial use.

He stressed that these solutions, which extend from the production stage to practical application, can contribute to supporting the UAE’s efforts to achieve its goals of carbon neutrality and the transition towards clean energy.

Regarding the chassis platform, which is an integrated, ready-made technical structure on which vehicles are built, Wing explained that it is one of the most prominent innovations provided by CATL and provides a ready-made and integrated solution that includes the battery and operating systems, which allows entities wishing to launch new brands of electric cars to focus on the exterior design and visual identity, without the need for large investments in research and development in the early stages.

He added that this model reduces the time to market and reduces initial development costs, while providing the opportunity for later gradual investment in research, development and special designs, which supports the growth of the electric vehicle industry locally and regionally.

Wing stressed the company’s commitment to supporting the global transition towards renewable energy and sustainability, and contributing to building a low-carbon future in cooperation with the UAE.
