The UAE and Chad lay the foundation stone for the construction of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque and the Cultural Center in N’Djamena

In implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” and the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of the Presidential Cabinet, the UAE and the friendly Republic of Chad laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque and the Cultural Center in the Chadian capital, N’Djamena, in continuation of the agreement signed between the two friendly countries in April 2025, through the Emirates International Aid Agency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The foundation stone laying activities for the construction of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque and the Cultural Center in N’Djamena were attended by the UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Chad, Rashid Saeed Al Shamsi, the President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Chad, Dr. Khater Issa, the Special Advisor to the President of the Republic of Chad, Khater Arja, the Ambassador Plenipotentiary to the Presidency of the Republic of Chad, Ahmadou Ibrahim Ahmed, and the Director of the UAE Aid Coordination Office in Chad, Eid Saeed Al Ketbi.

Rashid Saeed Al Shamsi stressed that the UAE will continue the solid humanitarian legacy that was laid by the late founding leader Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul,” towards joint international development work and providing aid to friendly and needy communities in various parts of the world, and in translation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” in implementing various development projects in the social, economic, cultural, infrastructure, and other fields, in line with needs. Local beneficiary communities and sustainable development goals priorities.

For his part, Dr. Tariq Ahmed Al Ameri said that the construction of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque and the Cultural Center in N’Djamena in the friendly Republic of Chad reflects the UAE’s approach towards giving, giving, development and construction to serve all of humanity, in light of the great interest of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him”, and the keenness of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the State, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Presidential Cabinet, and the supervision of His Highness Sheikh Dhiyab bin Mohammed. Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office for Development Affairs and Families of Martyrs, Chairman of the International Humanitarian Affairs Council, in a way that meets the needs of peoples, develops societies, and enriches civilizational and cultural communication and knowledge exchange.

It is noteworthy that the Sheikh Zayed Mosque is built on an area of ​​up to 5,000 square meters, and can accommodate 10,000 worshipers, with 5,000 worshipers inside the mosque, and 5,000 worshipers in the courtyard of the mosque and its surroundings, with a public library and a religious school to teach the Holy Qur’an and its sciences. The cultural center is also being built on a designated land of 2,000 square meters, and includes 16 classrooms and offices. Administrative, multi-purpose halls for lectures, workshops, and cultural activities, and a diverse library. The center’s main work is focused on Iftar programs for fasting people, distributing sacrifices, implementing training courses, and joint Emirati and Chadian national events.
