Two Ryder Cup stars participate in the “Hero Dubai Desert Classic” tournament

The stars of the European team in the Ryder Cup, Tommy Fleetwood and Shane Lowry, confirmed their readiness to participate in the 37th edition of the Hero Dubai Desert Classic golf tournament, scheduled to be held from January 22 to 25 at the Emirates Golf Club, with the participation of an elite group of the world’s best players in the first Rolex Series event within the “Race to Dubai” this season.

The duo were part of the European team that retained the Ryder Cup title, and the spotlight was on Lowry, who made the decisive shot that enabled the team to win over the United States.

The duo had previously achieved previous successes in the Emirates, where Tommy Fleetwood won the Dubai Invitational in 2024, and the Abu Dhabi Championship in 2017 and 2018, while Lowry won the Abu Dhabi Championship in 2019.

Lowry said in the press conference held today: “The Hero Dubai Desert Classic represents the essence of the DB World Tour, given its long history since 1989. The “Dallah” Cup is symbolic, and every player wishes to have his name engraved on it. It is a historic tournament and one of the most important tournaments in which I participate, and I hope that it will decorate my treasury.”

For his part, Fleetwood expressed his happiness at participating in the tournament, noting the advantage of his stay in Dubai. He said: “I am fortunate to participate in the end-of-season tournaments of the DB World Tour here in the Emirates, as well as the beginning of the year events in Dubai. I consider this tournament one of the best tournaments of the year, and its course is one of the best golf courses in the world. Although I have not been able over the years to produce the performance I hope to win the title, I love the challenge and competition here, and I find the atmosphere great for playing golf at the beginning of the year.”
