200 swimmers in the Gulf Swimming Championship “Abu Dhabi 2026”

The competitions of the 30th edition of the Gulf Swimming Championship will begin tomorrow, Thursday, in Abu Dhabi, with the participation of 200 male and female swimmers representing six teams: the Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman.

The events will be held at the Sports Center in Mohammed bin Zayed City, in the presence of the President of the International Federation of Water Sports, Dr. Hussein Al-Musallam.
The tournament witnesses expanded participation, extending from the 10-year-old category to the general category, which reflects the great development witnessed by swimming sports in the region, and confirms the UAE’s readiness to host major continental and international championships.
The competitions continue over four days, with morning and evening periods daily, and include individual and group races for all ages, while the tournament concludes on January 25 with the crowning of the winners in all races.
The UAE Swimming National Team is participating with a delegation of 42 swimmers in one of its largest Gulf participations, with great ambitions to compete for the first places.
Abdullah Al Wahaibi, Chairman of the Emirates Water Sports Federation’s Steering Committee, confirmed Abu Dhabi’s readiness to host the event, saying: “We welcome all Gulf teams in Abu Dhabi, and we are pleased with the presence of Dr. Hussein Al Musallam, President of the International Water Sports Federation. We have completed all organizational and technical preparations to present an exceptional version that reflects the UAE’s status and ability to host the most important tournaments. The tournament includes 200 male and female swimmers, and we expect a large attendance at the opening befitting the value and history of the event.”
