During the last quarter of this year, the Kingdom will host works "The First World Summit "; Confirming its international leadership in the field of protecting marine ecosystems, in addition to highlighting its advanced position in leading international efforts to confront around the world.

The Kingdom’s hosting of the summit was announced during events "Saudi House" Held on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, and announced by Her Royal Highness Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan, Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the United States of America.

On this occasion, the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Corporation for the Conservation of and turtles in the Red Sea Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Fadhli said that the Kingdom’s hosting of the first World Summit on Coral Reefs embodies its local and international efforts to protect and preserve marine ecosystems, by adopting the best programs, innovative technologies, and global practices. To contribute to achieving sustainable development goals, through rehabilitating coral reefs, restoring environmental balance, and improving the quality of life.

The CEO of the General Foundation for the Conservation of Coral Reefs and Turtles in the Red Sea explained "sun" Khaled Al-Isfahani said that the summit’s work will focus on three main axes: policies, scientific research, and financing.

He explained: Through these axes, the summit aims to present a practical and targeted framework for policies and legislation that enables achieving financial sustainability for coral reefs and their associated marine systems, while charting a clear path to move from dialogue to implementation, by highlighting coral reefs as economic assets within blue economy strategies, and developing sustainable and scalable financing mechanisms, in addition to involving leaders and industrialists. and decision makers; To develop implementable investment models through policies and legislation, and to create an organized international mobilization path that leads to tangible and measurable outcomes.

It is noteworthy that the Kingdom is organizing this global summit, through the General Foundation for the Conservation of Coral Reefs and Turtles in the Red Sea (Shams), in its capacity as Chairman of the International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI), whose membership includes (45) countries; This reflects international confidence in the Kingdom’s leadership role in protecting coral reefs around the world.
