Launching the first edition of the Badminton Sports Talents Championship

The Emirates Committee for Nurturing Sports Talents and Supporting National Sports announced the launch of the first edition of the Badminton Sports Talent Championship, next February 30, in the gym of the Maliha Cultural Sports Club in the Emirate of Sharjah, as part of the efforts of the Ministry of Sports aimed at discovering and nurturing the rising generations, and developing the national talent base in various sports.
The tournament is organized by the Emirates Badminton Federation, with the support of the Emirates Committee for Nurturing Sports Talents and Supporting National Sports, and hosted by the Maliha Cultural and Sports Club, as part of a national plan aimed at building an integrated system for discovering and refining sports talent in the country.
The Assistant Undersecretary for the Sports Development and Competitiveness Sector at the Ministry of Sports, and Chairman of the Emirates Committee for Nurturing Sports Talents and Supporting National Sports, Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, confirmed that this tournament comes as a translation of the Ministry of Sports’ vision of building a new generation of athletes capable of representing the UAE in regional and international forums, noting that this event represents the starting point for a series of tournaments and programs dedicated to nurturing talented people in various individual and team sports.
He added: “The Badminton Sports Talent Championship constitutes a strategic step in the path of preparing champions and refining talents, and reflects our aspirations to develop national capabilities and enhance the UAE’s presence in racket sports. The event is not just a competitive tournament, but rather a national message aimed at establishing a culture of sports among young people and motivating them to excel and give.”
For her part, President of the UAE Badminton Federation, Noura Al Jasmi, confirmed that organizing this tournament embodies the Federation’s commitment to its role in supporting the strategy of discovering talent and expanding the base of badminton practitioners, noting that the tournament is a pivotal station for discovering promising elements capable of representing national teams in the future.
She said: “We are proud to launch the first edition of the Badminton Sports Talent Championship, which represents an essential step in the path of building a new generation of talented players. Through this tournament, in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports and the Emirates Committee for Nurturing Sports Talents, we are working to provide a professional competitive environment that enables players to highlight their abilities and move towards long-term development paths that serve the future of the game at the national level.”
It also called on all sports clubs and academies in the country to participate in the tournament, noting that the official website of the UAE Badminton Federation will announce in the coming days the details of registration and conditions for participation.
This tournament is the first step within the national program for discovering sports talents in the sport of badminton, as it aims to provide a real platform for discovering emerging talents, and to provide a professional competitive environment in accordance with the highest technical and organizational standards. The tournament includes 10 categories for citizens and 10 categories for other nationalities from various emirates of the country, and the age groups include: U9 years – U11 years – U13 years – U15 years – U17 years (males and females), which reflects the increasing interest in developing the sports sector and enhancing Sustaining national talent.
The winners will receive medals and prizes of appreciation, and a group of distinguished players will be selected to join the talent nurturing and development programs of the Emirates Sports Talent Sponsorship Committee (UAETSS), under the supervision of the Ministry of Sports and in cooperation with the competent authorities, with the aim of providing continuous technical and training support to promising talents.
