Launch the Sustainable Rural Agricultural Development “Reef Saudi Arabia” launched a strategic project to modernize the artisanal fishing fleet in 6 regions of the Kingdom, by equipping small fishermen’s boats with modern engines and “EPIRB” satellite distress systems, in a step aimed at raising production efficiency and enhancing maritime safety standards, ensuring the sustainability of food supply chains and improving the income of those practicing the profession in accordance with the goals of Vision 2030.

The “Reef Saudi Arabia” program launched a new phase of supporting the Fish Wealth, aiming to eliminate the operational challenges facing small fishermen, by replacing old engines with ones with high efficiency and advanced technical specifications.

Enhancing the safety of marine fishing methods

The official spokesman for the program explained, "Majid Al-Braikan"that this The projectrepresents a qualitative initiative that combines economic solutions with saving lives, as it works to raise the reliability of marine fishing methods and reduce sudden malfunctions at sea.

The initiative mainly focused on installing advanced relief devices operating via satellites (EPIRB) in supported boats, to ensure rapid response to emergency situations, which enhances the feeling of safety among fishermen and their families.

This step directly targets the sustainability of livelihoods in rural and coastal communities, through Reducing costly operational risks, which reflects positively on the stability of the financial income of fishermen and ensures the continuity of their productive activity without interruption.

Developing the infrastructure of the fishing sector

He pointed out "Al-Breikan" The project is not limited to financial support, but rather contributes to developing the infrastructure of the traditional fishing sector and raising its technical readiness, thus enhancing compliance with international safety standards and protecting lives from the volatile dangers of the sea.

The program works through these equipment to improve the level of governance and oversight of the supported assets, to ensure the optimal use of state resources and direct support to its actual beneficiaries in order to achieve a tangible development impact.

The geographical distribution map of the project included six main regions, namely Makkah Al-Mukarramah, And Medina, the Eastern Province, Tabuk, Asir, and Jazan, to cover the most important vital coasts in the Kingdom and ensure that support reaches the largest possible segment.

The official statistics of the project revealed the supply of 450 new marine engines, ranging in power from 40, 75, and 100 horsepower, to suit the different sizes of boats and the diverse sailing needs of the beneficiary fishermen.

The support package also included the distribution of 1,000 modern distress devices, which constitutes a wide safety network covering a sector A large number of small boats, and enhance the attractiveness of the fishing profession to new generations as a safe and sustainable source of income.
