Schools stress the wearing of jackets in cold weather and determine a mechanism for dealing with lost items

The administrations of a number of public and private schools that implement the Ministry of Education’s curriculum have stressed the need for students to wear winter jackets, in order to preserve their health and safety during the school day, and to protect them from the effects of cold weather.

Schools confirmed in internal circulars to students and parents, seen by Emirates Today, that they are constantly monitoring weather changes, noting that if temperatures drop significantly, students will be dismissed in the closed sports hall instead of the school yard, as part of the regulatory procedures followed to ensure a safe and appropriate educational environment for all students.

Noticeable crowding
In a related context, school administrations explained that it was observed during the recent period a noticeable accumulation of students’ winter jackets as a result of a number of students forgetting them inside the school campus and not returning to receive them.

She pointed out that all the abandoned jackets were collected and placed in the waiting room adjacent to the entry and exit gates, but the failure of the students or their guardians to receive them led to their accumulation and lack of use.

School review
Based on the schools’ keenness to preserve students’ property and organize administrative work, the administrations alerted parents to the need to visit the school and receive the jackets if they wish to do so, stressing that everyone will be given the opportunity for two weeks to receive their children’s jackets from the waiting room.

Follow-up procedures
The schools also stated that, starting next February, if the owners of the jackets are not reviewed within the specified period, they will be disposed of according to established procedures, since they cannot be kept for a longer period.

School administrations concluded their call by emphasizing the importance of parents’ cooperation with teaching and administrative bodies, and making students aware of the importance of preserving their personal belongings, as this has a positive impact in enhancing school discipline and ensuring an organized and safe educational environment for all.
