A fire broke out in an oil tank in western Russia due to a drone attack


A drone attack caused a fire in an oil tank in the western city of Penza RussiaEarly on Friday, no casualties were reported, according to the region’s governor.
Video clips circulated on social media showed a column of fire rising from the site of an oil depot on the eastern outskirts of Penza, about 618 kilometers from the front line.

Statements about the attack

The officials did not provide details about the source of Drones, but the Russian Defense Ministry said that its air defenses intercepted at least 12 Ukrainian drones overnight, including one over the Penza region.
There was no immediate comment from Kiev, which is focusing its attacks on Russian energy sites in an effort to target Moscow’s resources and prevent it from being used in its war on Ukraine.

Governor Oleg Melnichenko said on the Telegram application. "At around 4 a.m. (01:00 GMT), a drone attack caused a fire in an oil tank in Penza. According to preliminary data, no injuries or human losses were recorded"

Relatively cheap Ukrainian drones caused billions of dollars in damage in Russian oil and gas facilities.
Kiev says that these attacks are a fair response to the Russian strikes targeting the Ukrainian energy network.
Russian strikes in recent weeks have caused thousands of people to lose heat and electricity amid sub-zero temperatures.
