Abdullah bin Zayed welcomes the UAE’s hosting of the tripartite talks between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States

ABU DHABI, 23 JANUARY / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed the UAE’s hosting of the tripartite talks that bring together Russia, Ukraine and the United States in Abu Dhabi, expressing his hope that these talks will contribute to taking steps leading to ending a crisis that has extended for nearly four years and resulted in massive human suffering.

His Highness stressed that this hosting embodies international confidence in the UAE’s pioneering role and its consistent approach in supporting peace, and turning challenges into real opportunities for the peoples of the two countries and the peoples of all the region, praising the efforts made by His Excellency US President Donald Trump in facilitating these talks, consolidating stability, and pushing towards the political path.

His Highness added that the UAE has strong partnerships with the three parties, which embodies its commitment and approach based on strategic cooperation, which enables it to play a reliable role in hosting the dialogue at a time when there is a great need for serious and responsible diplomacy.

His Highness affirmed the UAE’s firm belief that sustainable solutions to conflicts can only be achieved through dialogue and de-escalation, reiterating the country’s commitment to building diplomatic bridges and supporting any progress achieved by these important talks that come at this precise time.

The talks began today in Abu Dhabi, and are scheduled to continue for two days, as part of efforts to enhance dialogue and find political solutions to the crisis.

It is noteworthy that the UAE has succeeded in completing 17 mediation processes for the exchange of prisoners between Russia and Ukraine, according to which 4,641 prisoners were released, which reflects the depth of the relations between the UAE and the two countries and embodies its role as a reliable mediator in supporting diplomatic and humanitarian solutions.
