New “Dunk Show” “Dubai Basket” in the 35th edition

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the New Generation Sports Events Organizing Company, which owns the rights to the Dubai International Basketball Championship, Naji Al Jabri, revealed the creation of the “Dunk Show” exhibition competition, which begins at seven in the evening today, and appears for the first time in the history of the tournament currently being held in its 35th edition at the Al Nasr Club hall in Dubai, and its competitions extend until the first of next February.
Al Jabri told Emirates Today: “The inclusion of the exhibition competition in the program of the second day comes within the framework of the keenness to continue improving the activities accompanying the (Basket v Dubai) tournament, adding more enthusiasm and excitement to the atmosphere of the tournament, which is considered the oldest and most continuous in the region, and is included in the calendar of the International Federation, and always enjoys the participation of elite clubs from the continents of Asia and Africa.”
He added: “The second day’s program begins at three o’clock in the afternoon with Al-Nasr’s match against Al-Wahda of Syria, followed by the confrontation of the Lebanese champions Beirut team with Al-Ahly Tripoli of Libya, then the (Dunk Show) event, which extends for an hour and a half, with the curtain falling on this day with the Tunisian African team’s match against Zamboanga of the Philippines.”
Al Jabri explained: “In the new version, we were keen to organize events that were included for the first time, including the (Dunk Show) competition, which comes with the flavor of the world’s most famous league (NBA), and begins its performances with the participation of the (Mixream) team, which specializes in this type of shows, and includes in its ranks former NBA star Christon Staples, in addition to singing performances, in a hearty meal that we offer as a token of loyalty to the fans and fans of (Dubai Basket), who have always been one of the most prominent factors in the success of Championship.”
Al-Jabri concluded: “After the exhibitions, there will be a competition that brings together the foreign professionals who are among the teams participating in the tournament, in an opportunity to demonstrate their skills in an exhibition style based on high jumping and finishing balls inside the basket, with the winner receiving the financial prize allocated for the competition, amounting to 10 thousand dirhams.”
