Jordanian Ali Alwan joins Qatari club Al Sailiya

Jordanian international striker Ali Alwan joined the Qatari Al-Sailiya team until the end of the season, with a renewable contract, according to what a club source told Agence France-Presse yesterday.
The source said that Alwan (25 years old) joined the team’s training after completing all administrative matters related to the contract concluded between the two parties.
He added that Alwan will be registered on the club’s roster with the Qatar Football Association, as a replacement for Algerian striker Mohamed Benytou, whose contract with the team was terminated by mutual consent.
Alwan’s first appearance with Al Sailiya will be in the next match in the fourteenth round of the Qatari League scheduled for Friday against Al Shamal.
Alwan was very close to moving to the Saudi Al-Riyadh Club, but the negotiations stopped at the last moments, so Al-Sailiya entered the line and completed the deal after paying the value of the release clause in the player’s contract with the Iraqi Al-Karma Club.
Alwan has excelled remarkably with his country’s national team in recent years, and performed at a very remarkable level in the Arab Cup tournament in Qatar late last year, and led his country to second place in the tournament, in which he was crowned top scorer with 6 goals.
He also contributed to Al-Nashama reaching the 2026 World Cup finals in the United States, Mexico and Canada for the first time in the history of the Jordanian national team.
Alwan, who started his career with the Jordanian club Al-Jazira in 2018, previously played for the Qatari club Al-Shamal in the 2023 season, then moved to his compatriot Al-Khor and returned to Al-Shamal on loan the following season before moving to the Malaysian club Selangor last season, and from there to the Iraqi club Al-Karma at the beginning of the current season.
Alwan played 11 matches with the Iraqi team this season, scoring five goals and making one goal, while he played 57 matches for his country’s national team since 2020 and scored 27 goals.
