The UAE national team defeats Al Karama of Syria…and qualifies for the semi-finals of “Dubai Basketball”

The Emirates Basketball National Team secured a pass to the semi-finals in the Dubai International Championship, by defeating Al-Karama of Syria, with a score of (87-71), today, Thursday, at the opening of the quarter-finals, in the tournament currently being held at Al-Nasr Club Hall in its 35th edition, and the curtain will fall on it next Sunday evening.
“Al-Abyad” needed its players to gain the advantage with the results of the first and second quarters, and then the third, by (24-13, 24-8, and 23-19), while the Syrian Al-Karama was content with gaining the advantage with the result of the third quarter (31-16).
American playmaker DeShondre Washington and its young star Hamed Abdel Latif shone for the national team, scoring 21 and 14 points, respectively. The team’s focal point, Qais Omar, also shone defensively, scoring 12 successful attempts to catch balls bouncing off the basket.
The UAE national team will meet at 6 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, the winner of the Libyan “summit” that brings together the “Al-Ittihad” and “Ahly Tripoli” teams, in a confrontation during which “Al-Abyad” seeks to reach the final match for the first time in its career in the tournament.
