29 killed in a shipwreck in the Philippines


An additional 11 bodies were recovered today off the shores of Philippines, which brings to 29 the number of people killed in the sinking of a ship carrying more than 300 people, according to what the Philippine Coast Guard announced.

The boat was "MV Trisha Kirsten 3" At least 344 passengers, including crew members, were carrying when it sank on Monday off the island of Mindanao in the southwestern Philippines.

A spokeswoman for the Philippine Coast Guard told local radio that the number of missing people is no longer certain.

Millions of people use ships suffering from poor maintenance and lack of inspection as the main means of transportation in the Philippine archipelago, which includes more than 7,100 islands.
