A 4.8 magnitude earthquake strikes southern Greece

Hit An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale today on the island of Crete in southern Greece.

The Athens Institute of Geodynamics reported that The earthquakeoccurred under the sea at 12:33 am, about 56 kilometers west of the city of Paleochora, west of the island of Crete, and its epicenter was at a depth of 29.5 kilometers.

There have been no reports so far of human casualties or material damage as a result of the earthquake.
