المملكة: “Environment” joins efforts with the green economy to maximize the national impact of sustainability

Confirmed Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the importance of enhancing institutional integration in The environmental sector, and building a strategic framework for cooperation between the “environment” system, the National Sustainability Committee, and Green Economy; In a way that contributes to unifying national efforts and developing an integrated work system that contributes to raising the efficiency of planning and implementation, and maximizing the environmental and economic impact of national initiatives, in line with the objectives of the National Environment Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030.
This came during a workshop organized by the Ministry at its headquarters in Riyadh, entitled “Enhancing integration between the “environment” system and the National Committee for Sustainability and the Green Economy,” in the presence of the Undersecretary for the Environment, Dr. Osama Faqiha, and with the participation of a number of stakeholders. relationship, heads of environmental centers and specialists; To highlight the importance of partnership between government agencies and relevant national committees, and to enhance joint coordination to achieve sustainability goals.
Workshop Objectives
The workshop aims to unify the efforts of the public and private sectors in achieving the goals of the National Environment Strategy, and to enhance the participation of the private sector in achieving the achievements, initiatives and projects of the “Environment” system, in addition to building a joint executive vision for priority work paths, and raising the efficiency of implementing environmental projects and maximizing their impact.
Dr. Faqiha explained that The workshop comes within the framework of the Ministry’s leadership role in enhancing institutional integration in the environmental sector, which contributes to the harmonization of roles and responsibilities, and supports the development of priority environmental policies and programs, to contribute to achieving the goals of sustainability and the green economy.
He pointed out that the workshop discussed a number of main topics, most notably strengthening governance and institutional integration, defining roles between relevant authorities, and supporting the role of environmental centers in implementing policies and programmes, in addition to reviewing integration opportunities in the areas of environmental sustainability and the green economy; In a way that enhances performance efficiency and raises the level of environmental commitment.
Integrative work
Dr. Fakiha stated that the workshop came out with several important recommendations, which will contribute – God willing – to building an integrative framework that supports the unification of national efforts, enhances the achievement of sustainable environmental impact, and contributes to protecting natural resources and improving the quality of life; In line with national trends towards sustainability and comprehensive development.
Among the most prominent recommendations is the formation of a follow-up committee and specialized work teams to transform the gains into programs and initiatives, and the implementation of clear cooperation paths between the environmental system, the committee, and the private sector. In order to enhance the gains achieved and expand the scope of the partnership, and to approve joint work mechanisms at the national level for each track; To ensure the transition to implementable action plans, support priority investment opportunities, and issue supporting recommendations to enhance integration and raise the efficiency of implementation to ensure the sustainability of the gains and their transformation into national achievements.
National Environmental Targets
Faqiha added that the role of the private sector within this partnership is to invest in environmental projects with economic, social and environmental returns, and to provide operational solutions in various environmental fields, through innovation and advanced technology, in addition to supporting compliance with regulations. And regulations, raising the challenges of the private sector, proposing solutions, and contributing to achieving national environmental goals, in addition to launching specialized training platforms and centers.
In addition, the workshop witnessed the participation of the National Committee for Sustainability and Green Economy – Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce, the National Center for Control of Environmental Compliance, the National Center for Wildlife Development, the National Center for Vegetation Development and Combating Desertification, the Environment Fund, and the National Waste Management Center “MOAN”.
