American Reid takes the lead in the “Race to Dubai” golf standings

American Patrick Reed topped the “Race to Dubai” classification in the “DB World” golf tour competitions, issued today, Monday, after winning the Qatar Masters title, which concluded yesterday, Sunday, at the Doha Golf Club, achieving his second title in just three weeks in the 2026 season, after he had previously won the Hero Dubai Desert Classic title last January at the Emirates Golf Club.

Reid finished the competition with a score of 16 under par, two strokes ahead of Scot Callum Hill, who scored 14 under par, earning the American player 585 points and raising his total score at the top of the “Race to Dubai” classification to 2259 points.

Reid’s brilliance draws attention, as in addition to winning the Dubai and Doha titles, he finished runner-up in the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship last week in Manama, presenting a very consistent and strong performance, in his quest to become the first American to be crowned champion of the DB World Tour season since the name “Race to Dubai” was adopted in 2009.

After the coronation and raising the pearl-shaped trophy, Reid said: “This short series that I achieved, two wins and a second place, is wonderful. I was not asking for more than I achieved. “It’s special, especially to come to this region and get two wins early in the season, and I’m looking forward to more in the future.”

This is the fifth title in Reid’s career on the DB World Tour since he became a professional golfer in 2011, making him a real threat to break the series of crowning Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy with the “Race to Dubai” title, as the latter won his fourth consecutive title as champion of the season in 2025, and the seventh overall in his career.

The Qatar Masters tournament is the fourth “International Series” tournament, which includes seven tournaments held in five different countries across two continents. It started in the UAE, and continues to hold tournaments in Kenya and South Africa.

According to the calendar of the new season of “Race to Dubai”, at least 42 tournaments will be held in 25 countries around the world, with the final qualifiers being held in the United Arab Emirates, where the best 70 players qualify for the Abu Dhabi Championship at Yas Links during the period from 5 to 8 November 2026, then the best 50 players qualify for the DB World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Estates Golf Club during the period from 12 to 15 November 2026.
