Courtois joins investors in the Electric Powerboat Championship

Real Madrid and Belgian national team goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, has joined the E1 Powerboat Championship, becoming the latest big sporting name to participate in ownership of one of the teams in this Saudi-backed series.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper, one of the founders of the sports investment platform NXT Play Capital, is cooperating with the Sierra Team of the Sierra Racing Club.

Other team owners include famous athletes, former tennis legend Rafa Nadal, NBA player LeBron James, seven-time NFL champion Tom Brady, and actor Will Smith.

The series’ races are held on four continents, in locations including Italy’s Lake Como, Monaco, the Angolan capital of Luanda, Miami and the Bahamas.

“Sierra Racing Club represents exactly what NXT Play is looking for in a sporting asset, a team with a strong identity, technical ambition and real potential to become one of the leading names in the championship,” Courtois said in a statement.
