effectiveness "Diabetes challenge" The family attraction attracts thousands of families and residents in Dubai

Dubai, 9 February / WAM / The 16th edition of the “Diabetes Challenge” event, which concluded in Dubai yesterday, attracted more than 17,500 participants from various segments of society, consolidating its position as one of the largest community initiatives centered around family health in the UAE.
The event, organized by the Landmark Group in Zabeel Park, comes in line with the objectives of the Year of the Family in the UAE.
The event was opened by Renuka Jagtiani, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors at Landmark Group, along with His Excellency Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, Her Excellency Hessa Tahlak, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Family Affairs for the Development Sector, Dr. Amer Al Zarouni, Executive Director of Al Jalila Foundation – the giving arm of Dubai Health, and a number of partners and stakeholders.
Saeed Mohammed Hareb said that the Council is proud of its ongoing partnership with the Landmark Group in the family “Diabetes Challenge” event over several years, noting that the initiative has succeeded in establishing its position as one of the most prominent community wellness initiatives in the Emirate of Dubai, as it contributes to bringing together community members around a common goal of promoting public health.
He stressed that such initiatives, especially in the “Year of the Family,” play a pivotal role in encouraging physical activity and establishing healthy lifestyles as a basis for building a healthier, stronger and more sustainable society.
The event witnessed the return of the “Super Kids” program, which is an essential part of this initiative, to play a pivotal role in it in cooperation with the “GEMS Education” Foundation, with the aim of enhancing youth interaction and health awareness.
Nisha Jagtiani, Director of Landmark Group, said: “This year, through qualitative initiatives such as the ‘Mobile Wellness’ unit of the Al Jalila Foundation, and the area designated for the Emirates Health Services Corporation within the Family Area, we were able to deliver preventive care, early detection and health awareness services directly to families in practical and accessible ways.”
Dr. Amer Al Zarouni, Executive Director of the Al Jalila Foundation, said: “Our long-term partnership with the Landmark Group reflects a shared commitment to improving human health, by establishing sustainable health awareness and promoting meaningful community participation, as we believe that prevention and early detection represent two basic pillars for improving health outcomes in the long term, by transforming awareness into practical steps that create a tangible impact on families in the UAE.”
It is noteworthy that the “Diabetes Challenge” initiative was launched in 2009, establishing its position as a leading community movement in which more than 165,000 people have participated to date in the Arabian Gulf region, carrying an influential awareness message entitled “Start testing, eat a healthy diet, and stay active.”
