New requirements regulate the registration of people of determination in government schools for the next academic year

The Ministry of Education announced 11 requirements, procedures, and regulatory documents for registering students of determination in government schools for the academic year 2026-2027, within a comprehensive framework aimed at ensuring the readiness of the school environment, achieving the student’s educational interest, and strengthening the inclusive education system according to approved diagnostic and pedagogical foundations.

Registration procedures

The Ministry explained that the registration procedures begin by submitting a request for registration and acceptance of the student through the official website of the Ministry of Education or the smart application (MOE UAE), provided that the guardian is committed to attending on the specified date for diagnosis and evaluation in the inclusive education centers.

Non-compliance

She stressed that failure to attend, change the appointment, or breach of approved procedures leads to the application being automatically closed without completion.

Evaluation and diagnosis

The Ministry stated that the student then undergoes a comprehensive evaluation and diagnosis process at the Inclusive Education Support Center within a period not exceeding 15 working days, in light of which the student’s eligibility to attend kindergarten or government school, or his ineligibility for integration into government schools, is determined, provided that the guardian is officially informed of the result of the evaluation.

Evaluation result

The Ministry confirmed through the guideline for registration in public schools for the academic year 2026-2027, which Emirates Today reviewed, that the evaluation result is final and approved throughout the academic year, and the guardian may not submit a request to re-register the student after the decision is approved, in a way that ensures the stability of the educational process and directs the student to the path most appropriate to his abilities and needs.

7 basic documents

Regarding the required documents, the Ministry has identified seven basic documents, including a recent medical report not older than a year issued by an accredited medical authority within the country, a medical report showing the degree of hearing or sight when needed, in addition to the individual educational plan for students transferring from private schools, and academic certificates approved by government centers for people of determination attached to the transitional plan report and the services provided.

Recent psychological report

The required documents also include a People of Determination card issued by the Ministry of Community Development – if available – and a recent psychological report not exceeding six months issued by an accredited specialized center, in addition to the guardian’s signature pledging to abide by the terms and conditions approved in the school’s policies.

Reserve the right

The Ministry warned that if a student of determination is registered without the guardian disclosing his condition, it reserves its full right to take the action it deems appropriate in the interest of the student, whether by accepting him or transferring him to a specialized center, based on the results of the approved evaluation.

Inclusive education

These requirements come within the framework of the Ministry of Education’s keenness to consolidate the principles of inclusive education and ensure the provision of fair and sustainable educational services that keep pace with the needs of students of determination and support their effective integration into the school environment in accordance with the best educational practices.
