Hamad Al Sharqi receives guests of the Fujairah Media Forum and confirms that the media is an influential force in shaping awareness
Fujairah, February 10, 2017 – His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, stressed the importance of the media sector as a soft and influential force in shaping societal awareness, consolidating values, and contributing to strengthening the presence of national identity in society and developing a sustainable digital knowledge economy. He pointed out at the same time that applications of artificial intelligence represent a double-edged sword, because of their role in developing media work, in exchange for the challenges it poses that affect the credibility of the content and the accuracy of the information, which requires enhancing Professional controls and media responsibility.
This came while His Highness received at Rumaila Palace the guests participating in the Fujairah Media Forum, which is hosted by the Emirate of Fujairah on February 10 and 11, and organized by the Fujairah Government Media Office, under the title “New Media… Masks of Truth.”
His Highness welcomed the guests of the forum, which includes an elite group of ministers, experts, decision-makers and media professionals from the Arab world, noting their important role in exchanging experiences and strengthening frameworks of joint cooperation to support the development of the media sector, which contributes to improving its performance, enhancing its role and mission, and keeping pace with rapid transformations.
His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi stressed that the forum constitutes an important platform to discuss the challenges facing the media sector, and provides an opportunity to exchange experiences and develop the media system in a way that enhances the consolidation of responsible media, supports keeping pace with changes and improving the sector’s performance, and contributes to consolidating the UAE’s position as a leading and influential center in this field at the international level.
His Highness stressed that the directives of the UAE government made it possible to lead the transformation towards a sustainable digital knowledge economy, by adopting advanced media strategies that employ artificial intelligence techniques and contribute to the development of the media system, while maintaining credibility and professional responsibility.
His Highness explained that the Emirate of Fujairah plays a pivotal role in this transformation, benefiting from its strategic location and the diversity of its media environments, which enhances its ability to innovate and develop media content, and contributes to consolidating its position as an effective center in the media sector.
In turn, the forum’s guests extended their thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, for the warm reception and remarkable support for projects and initiatives aimed at exchanging experiences, and for His Highness’s continuous and continuing plans to enhance development in the media sector.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Saeed bin Mohammed Al Raqbani, Special Advisor to His Highness the Ruler of Fujairah, and His Excellency Mohammed Saeed Al Dhanhani, Director of the Emiri Diwan in Fujairah.
