The Emirati-Korean Forum for Suppliers and Localization of Defense Industries discusses opportunities for cooperation and partnerships in Abu Dhabi
ABU DHABI, 11 February, 2018 (WAM) – The Tawazun Defense Empowerment Council “Tawazun” in Abu Dhabi organized the LIG Forum for Suppliers and Localization of Industries, in the presence of a number of major Emirati and Korean defense companies, to discuss prospects for joint cooperation, opportunities for industrial partnerships, technology transfer, and manufacturing.
The forum was attended by His Excellency Dr. Nasser Humaid Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Tawazun Defense Empowerment Council, along with Hyunbin Hong, Senior Vice President of the Korean LIG Group, in addition to a number of officials and representatives of Emirati and Korean defense companies.
The forum included a presentation by LIG, one of the leading Korean companies in developing and manufacturing advanced defense systems, during which it showcased its industrial expertise and vision for expanding partnerships within the UAE, in addition to opportunities for transferring knowledge and technologies and joint manufacturing with national companies.
The forum witnessed a review of the role of Korean suppliers in developing subsystems and specialized technical components within LIG’s supply chains, and the opportunities this system provides for Emirati companies to join these chains and build direct partnerships with their Korean counterparts, which contributes to enhancing industrial integration and expanding the horizons of cooperation between the two sides.
His Excellency Sherif Hashem Al Hashemi, Director General of the Industrial Development Directorate at Tawazun, confirmed that organizing the forum comes within the efforts of the Tawazun Defense Empowerment Council to enhance the UAE’s position as a reliable industrial partner and support the growth of national defense industries by building strategic partnerships with leading international companies.
He said that the LIG Forum for Suppliers and Localization of Industries, which brings together national defense companies and their Korean counterparts, is an effective platform to discuss opportunities for industrial integration, identify priority areas of localization, and build partnerships based on technology transfer and joint manufacturing and contributes to aligning the capabilities of national companies with the requirements of global supply chains, thus supporting the growth of the local defense industry and enhancing its readiness in the long term.
The forum included presentations from CEOs and senior officials of prominent Korean defense companies and suppliers.
At the conclusion of the forum, bilateral business sessions were held between Emirati companies and their Korean counterparts, which discussed opportunities for joint cooperation, integration of supply chains, and building direct partnerships within an industrial system that serves common interests.
