Europe: Strengthening the occupation’s control over the West Bank contradicts international law

The statement added: "The new steps approved by the Israeli Security Ministerial Council regarding the West Bank are counterproductive and contradict international law"The Union reiterated its firm position not to recognize Israel’s sovereignty over the territories it has occupied since June 1967, in line with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

The statement warned that decisions affecting the implementation of the Hebron Protocol between Israel and the Palestinian Authority may jeopardize "The sensitive status quo at religious sites is at risk".
