The Ministry of Education launches an initiative "Ramadan with family" For the second year in a row

Abu Dhabi, February 12, 2017 – The Ministry of Education announced the continuation of the “Ramadan with the Family” initiative, which it launched last year coinciding with the approaching month of Ramadan, in line with the objectives of the Year of the Family and to consolidate its values.
The initiative aims to link learning with life experiences within the family environment, and to provide educational patterns that take into account the specificity of the Holy Month and reflect the cultural identity of the United Arab Emirates, which contributes to building balanced personalities that adhere to their national values.
Based on the Ministry’s keenness to achieve balance for students during the month of Ramadan while ensuring the continuity of the educational process, Fridays in government schools during the holy month of Ramadan will be allocated for distance learning, allowing students to spend time with their families and strengthen family ties in the atmosphere of the holy month.
The Ministry has prepared an integrated guide that includes joint educational and pedagogical activities, including cultural and value-based activities derived from the school curricula, in a way that supports the educational process of students and enhances the family and community dimension and its importance in their cognitive and cultural formation.
The Ministry explained that the implementation of the initiative will begin from the first Friday of the month of Ramadan, and includes students only, while educational field staff continue their school hours as usual.
The Ministry also gave parents the option of sending their children to school on Fridays if they wished, provided that the guardian takes responsibility for transporting the student to and from school.
As for grades five through twelfth, activities are related to the basic subjects, which enhance independent learning skills and self-responsibility, and are completed independently by students, in support of their self-learning, so that they remain consistent with the approved academic schedule.
