المملكة: “Transport” updates penalties: 2,600 riyals for “Kadada” fare and airport charges


I introduced General Authority for Transport Proposed amendments to the schedule of violations and penalties for the executive regulations for taxi transportation activities and mediation in transporting passengers via the “Reconnaissance” platform, which included deterrent penalties, including deportation of the non-Saudi driver and defamation of violators, to control the sector, raise the level of compliance, and prevent random practices in passenger transport.

The Authority presented the draft of the proposed amendments to the public with the aim of Extrapolating the visuals, in a step aimed at activating the tools of systemic deterrence and increasing penalties against those who are negligent in applying land transport systems on the roads.

Deportation of the non-Saudi driver and defamation of the violator

The most stringent penalties included the deportation of the non-Saudi driver who is proven to be involved in violating the provisions of the law and regulations, to ensure that work in this vital sector is limited to those legally authorized.

The draft approved the penalty for defamation by publishing a summary of Judicial judgment at the violator’s expense when the violation is repeated for the first time, in order to consolidate the principle of transparency and achieve general deterrence before society and investors.

The new amendments assigned the Committee for Review of Transportation System Violations the authority to impose financial fines that exceed the barrier of ten thousand riyals, to ensure justice in dealing with serious violations.

Penalty for transporting by private car

The authority introduced a fine of 2,600 riyals for anyone who merely practices “Preparatory work” for transporting passengers in his private car without a license, in a proactive measure to contain the phenomenon of random transportation before it occurs.

The amendments extended to the airport fare activity by determining the same financial value for violations, while tightening procedures towards non-Saudi drivers in order to ensure discipline at the Kingdom’s first interface to visitors.

The regulations granted the competent authorities the powers to suspend the license completely or partially for a period of up to a full year, with the possibility of stopping the driver or impounding the vehicle for the same period to ensure full compliance.
