The Ramadan Council of the Sharjah Press Club continues 15 years of knowledge dialogue

Sharjah, February 16, 2017 – The Ramadan Council, organized by the Sharjah Press Club, which operates under the Sharjah Government Media Office system, continues its journey of knowledge, celebrating the fifteenth anniversary of its launch, during which it presented 85 dialogue sessions that dealt with various topics that included culture, sports, art, and health, in addition to other topics that intersect with the interests of the public.

This year, the Ramadan Majlis will be held in the Aljada area during the period from February 22 to 26, as part of a program that combines literature, thought, human development, health, and travel, in addition to a group of accompanying activities.

The first session on February 22 will host the poet and content maker Abdullah Al-Anazi in a session entitled “Beyond the Poem: Absent Stories that Formed Poetic Texts.” It stops at the spaces that precede poetic writing, where the poem is read as a product of human experiences, unwritten stories, moments, and questions that formed the essence of the text without appearing directly in it, in a reading that opens a window on the human backgrounds that create literature.

On the same day, the Council will also host a poetry evening during which the poet Saif Al Mansouri will present his poetic experience, addressing the paths of writing between meaning and language as a living human expression.

Regarding the human development axis, writer and content maker Mishari Boudraid will present, on the second day of the council on February 24, a session entitled “How to Create Our Best Version,” which sheds light on the concept of self-development from a realistic angle and focuses on building habits, forming ideas in a positive way, and achieving personal growth without losing the identity and personal characteristic of each individual.

On the same day, during the session “The Art of Living Calmly in an Accelerating World,” the writer and poet Awad Al Darmaki discusses how to deal with the pressures of daily life and its rapid pace through simple practices that help re-arrange priorities and build a calmer relationship with oneself and others, based on realistic experiences from daily life.

On the health side, Professor Dr. Hani Abdel Gawad, Consultant Spine Surgeon, will present on the third day of the Council on February 25 a session entitled “Spine Deformities and Lifestyle: Our Responsibility towards Our Children, from Prevention to Early Detection,” during which he presents an awareness-raising discussion about the relationship between daily habits, wrong practices, and spinal deformities in children and adolescents. He reviews, through his professional experience, the impact of some unhealthy behaviors on the high rates of spinal problems, emphasizing the pivotal role of the family in early detection of these conditions by noticing the initial signs. And deal with it properly, while Dr. Adel Sajwani, Family Medicine Consultant, will present on the same day a session entitled “Public Health and Quality of Life: How to Protect Ourselves in the midst of the fast pace of life,” in which he addresses the concept of public health and its importance in the lives of individuals and society, highlighting the impact of the modern lifestyle on the health of the body in general. He also reviews the most prominent wrong practices that affect physical health, in addition to providing practical guidance for promoting health and preventing common problems, to emphasize the role of health awareness in improving the quality of life and reducing diseases associated with a fast-paced lifestyle.

At the conclusion of the Council’s days on February 26, which includes the theme of travel and the human experience, travel content creator Farah Al-Aidi participates in the session “The Art of Travel…Live the Experience, Not the Image,” where she addresses travel as an integrated human experience that begins with smart planning and reaches the discovery of cultures and building a deeper relationship with the place and travel destinations.

On the same day, travel content creator Abdulaziz Bin Howeiden will also present a session entitled “The Journey We Return On,” in which he discusses how trips leave a profound impact on thinking, relationships, and our outlook on life, and how some real journeys begin after returning.

His Excellency Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Office, confirmed that the Ramadan Council has sought, since its inception, to be a purposeful space for community communication, pointing out that over fifteen years the annual event has provided qualitative sessions that touch on people’s interests and daily issues and combine thought, culture and human experiences to form a sustainable model for cultural and humanitarian dialogue based on its firm belief in the importance of dialogue as a tool for intellectual rapprochement and awareness-building.

He added: The Majlis’ Ramadan program this year comes as an extension of this approach through various sessions stemming from the aspirations of the public and the Majlis’ character as a community platform that converges with public concerns.
