Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco…a sensitive confrontation to showcase the strength of the “champions”

French champion Paris Saint-Germain will play a sensitive confrontation with its compatriot Monaco tomorrow, Tuesday (12 o’clock UAE time), in the first leg of the qualifying play-off to the 16th round of the European Champions League football final.
In their first confrontation in European competitions, Paris Saint-Germain, which won the title for the first time in its history last season, will meet its compatriot Monaco.
After a good start, the players of Spanish coach Luis Enrique declined and settled for eleventh place. They also lost the lead of the French League to Lens by a point, after having dominated it for many years since the club was acquired by Qatar Sports Investments in 2011.
But its opponent, Monaco, is not going through its best condition, as it barely qualified for the playoffs, losing 9 times out of 22 matches in the local league, ranking eighth in League 1.
The winner of this confrontation will play against Barcelona of Spain or Chelsea of England.
It is true that facing Italian Inter, last season’s runner-up, looks easy on paper against Bodo Glimt, but the Norwegian team secured its card with a good flavor from two wins over the “big ones” Manchester City 3-1 and Spanish Atletico Madrid 2-1.
Also in the most notable remaining playoff matches, Italian Juventus will host Galatasaray of Turkey, and Borussia Dortmund of Germany will meet its guest, Atalanta of Italy.
The return matches for this round will be held on February 24 and 25.
