المملكة: “Riyadh Municipality” prepares 3 astronomical observatories with the latest technologies to investigate the Ramadan crescent

The Riyadh Municipality continued its field efforts to develop astronomical observation sites in the region, to enhance the work of investigating the crescent of the Holy Month, and to ensure the readiness of the observatories to receive the forecasting committees and those interested.
The qualitative development work included the “Tamir», which currently combines the site rehabilitated in 1436 AH, and the modern observatory established in 1447 AH, to be an advanced technical interface for observing the crescent moon.
The equipment covered The official “Shaqra” Observatory was established in 1431 AH, to ensure the continuity of its work with high efficiency that keeps pace with the renewed requirements for accurate astronomical observations.
The Secretariat’s plan extended to include the “Al-Hareeq” site, which is a traditional observation site located on a high plateau whose mechanism of operation depends on abstract vision, which reflects the diversity in monitoring mechanisms between technical and traditional.
The technical and field teams of the Secretariat worked to prepare and pave the roads Leading to these observatories, and maintaining all sites and facilities affiliated with them, to ensure smooth and safe access for pedestrians and visitors.
The operational plan included a comprehensive rehabilitation of the Tamir Observatory, enhancing standards of accessibility and public safety, and preparing reception areas and parking lots to serve delegations participating in this ritual.
The Secretariat is keen to provide all forms of logistical support to the specialized monitoring committees, within the framework of its complementary role in serving religious occasions and facilitating the performance of rituals for Muslims in general. Region.
