Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi inaugurates Al Nasr Mosque in Al Dhaid City

Sharjah, February 17, 2017 – His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, opened today, Tuesday, Al Nasr Mosque, which was built on a total area of more than 7,800 square meters, with a contemporary architectural design that combines Islamic symbolism and engineering innovation, and is located in the Jabal Omar area in the city of Al Dhaid.
His Highness listened to an explanation about Al-Nasr Mosque, whose façade is topped by a huge spherical glass dome with a diameter of 20 meters and a height of 16 meters, with a geometric grid design of hexagonal units of graduated colors that reflect light dynamically, in addition to the minaret, which is 38 meters tall, and was designed with a modern sculptural shape and graceful flowing lines, enhancing the sense of height and harmonizing with the dome in an integrated visual identity.
His Highness the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah was briefed on the mosque’s main prayer area that can accommodate 470 worshipers, an outdoor courtyard that can accommodate 140 worshipers, and an outdoor prayer hall that can accommodate 570 worshipers, bringing the total capacity for men to 1,180 worshipers.
The mosque also contains a women’s prayer hall that can accommodate 145 female worshippers, bringing the total capacity of the mosque to 1,325 male and female worshipers.
His Highness toured the mosque’s facilities, seeing the integrated service facilities it contains, such as a sink and restrooms for men and women, a washing machine for the dead for men and women, a water canteen, housing for the imam, a public library for reading, as well as parking lots, which provide a comfortable and safe environment for the people and visitors of the mosque’s residents and visitors.
His Highness the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah performed the Maghrib prayer at Al-Nasr Mosque, after which His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Salem Al-Doubi delivered a lecture in which he spoke about the virtue of building mosques and their great status in Islam, pointing out that the mosque throughout history was not only a place for prayer, but rather a beacon of knowledge and a center for education and memorization of the Qur’an, stressing that mosques contribute to consolidating the values of brotherhood and compassion among the people of the same neighborhood, and strengthen the bonds of kinship and communication. Among them, to form a basic pillar in building a cohesive society dominated by love and cooperation.
He asked His Eminence, the Lord of the Worlds, to bless everyone who contributed to building a mosque for God Almighty, calling on God to reward them with the best reward and to place what they have provided in the balance of their good deeds, indicating that the reward for building mosques is great and renewable as long as the rituals of prayer and remembrance are performed in them, and that the impact of this blessed work extends to the afterlife with the permanent reward that its doer receives and the wide mercy of God Almighty.
The opening was attended, alongside His Highness the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, by: Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Chairman of the Oil Department, Sheikh Faisal bin Ali Al Mualla, Secretary General of the Judicial Council, Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Director of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat in Sharjah, Dr. Issa Saif bin Hanzal, Head of the Islamic Affairs Department, and a number of officials and people of the region.
