He escalated his crisis against the Egyptian Football Association.. Al-Ahly adheres to its right to choose its representatives in the “VAR” session

Al-Ahly Club escalated its crisis with the Egyptian Football Association, after a strongly worded official statement, against the backdrop of the controversy over access to the video assistant referee (VAR) recordings of its match against Ceramica Cleopatra in the Egyptian League, which resulted in a 1-1 draw and witnessed objections to the arbitration decisions.
Al-Ahly’s escalation came after receiving a letter from the Football Association stating that it had approved its request to listen to the conversations that took place between the arbitration staff, while specifying the number of attendees and limiting it to only two members of the technical or administrative staff who were present on the field during the match, which the club rejected.
In its statement, which was published on its account on the “X” website, Al-Ahly affirmed its adherence to its inherent right to choose who represents it during the hearing, indicating that there is no regulation or legal text that gives the Football Association the right to determine the names or characteristics of those present, whether they are technicians, administrators, or officials.
The club explained that the session is not limited to the technical aspect only, but also carries legal dimensions, related to the penalties that were imposed after the match, in addition to the complaints submitted against the referee of the match, which requires the presence of whoever he deems appropriate to defend his rights.
Al-Ahly had filed an official complaint against the match referee, Mahmoud Wafa, demanding to see the dialogue that took place between him and the video technology referee, Mahmoud Ashour, during a review of one of the clips during which the team demanded a penalty kick.
The club stressed that its request comes within the framework of the pursuit of transparency and justice, and rejects any restrictions that may hinder reaching the full truth, stressing that it will continue to take all legal measures to preserve its rights.
It is noteworthy that the match between Al-Ahly and Ceramica Cleopatra ended in a positive draw 1-1, in the first round of the stage of determining the Egyptian League champion, in a match that witnessed widespread arbitration controversy.
