Shamma bint Muhammad highlights messages of family tolerance in a Ramadan meeting of her intellectual council


Al Ain, February 27 / WAM / Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Cultural and Educational Institutions, confirmed that apologizing within the family represents moral courage and a profound educational message that does not detract from the status and prestige of parents, during a Ramadan cultural dialogue meeting held by the Shamma Mohammed Council for Thought and Knowledge last evening under the title “The Culture of Apology among Family Members.”
The meeting was attended by her presence and the participation of the Council’s members, as part of its intellectual and cognitive activities aimed at enhancing family awareness and consolidating human values in society, coinciding with the Year of the Family 2026.
At the beginning of the meeting, Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan welcomed the attendees, stressing the importance of discussing issues related to building the family and enhancing the quality of human relations within it, as it is the first pillar in shaping individuals’ awareness and societal behavior.
Sheikha Dr. Shamma asked a pivotal question that sparked a rich discussion among the members about the concept of apology within the family and its cultural and social boundaries. Pointing out that dignity increases when you choose honesty over arrogance, and that love means correcting the course without breaking the mind, while the prestige of parents is built on justice, mercy, and bearing responsibility, not on claiming infallibility.
She explained that the absence of an apology does not create a strong home as some imagine, but rather accumulates silent cracks that weaken trust and push children to secrecy and denial instead of learning and maturity. She explained that an apology represents the highest level of “gentility” and moral chivalry, as it presents human dignity within the home and gives children a practical lesson in psychological safety, which contributes to transforming homes into oases of tolerance that reflect the spirit of Emirati society and its approach to coexistence.
The meeting witnessed a remarkable interaction from the members who presented realistic experiences and diverse visions, as they stressed that apology is a moral value that reflects human awareness and maturity, and does not detract from status or prestige, but rather enhances mutual respect and opens the doors of sincere dialogue. They pointed out that apology represents one of the paths of tolerance, coexistence, and acceptance of others, and instilling its culture in the souls of children from a young age contributes to raising a generation with good morals, capable of expressing its feelings consciously and responsibly, including It enhances family cohesion and community stability.
The meeting comes within a series of cultural and dialogue programs organized by the Shamma Muhammad Council for Thought and Knowledge, which seeks to create informed dialogue platforms that bring together women’s experiences and discuss cultural and societal issues in a participatory spirit.
These efforts aim to support the system of authentic family values, and enhance the role of cultural councils in building a more aware and cohesive society in the Emirati cultural scene, thus enhancing the role and vision of the wise leadership.
