Secretary of the Cooperation Council: The Iranian attack on the port of Fujairah is a dangerous act of aggression and a blatant escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region

RIYADH, 3 March / WAM / His Excellency Jassim Al Budawi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, today expressed the Gulf Cooperation Council’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the sinful Iranian attack that targeted the port of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates.

Kuwait News Agency quoted Al-Budaiwi as confirming in a statement that this aggressive act represents a blatant violation of the sovereignty of a member state of the Gulf Cooperation Council and a dangerous escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region.

He stressed that targeting vital facilities and infrastructure is unacceptable and condemnable behavior by all standards and reflects an escalatory approach that flouts the rules of international law and the principles of good neighborliness and aims to destabilize the security of the GCC countries and undermine the stability of global energy markets and constitutes a direct threat to the security of regional and global supplies and the safety of maritime navigation and international trade.

Al-Budaiwi called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities to stop these repeated Iranian attacks and put an immediate end to the irresponsible actions that undermine regional and international security and peace.

He renewed the Gulf Cooperation Council’s full and firm solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and its standing united with it in all the measures it takes to protect its security, preserve its sovereignty, and preserve the safety of its vital facilities.
