An exceptional operation transporting more than 350 passengers via the Al Ghuwaifat – Al Faya route and confirms the readiness and flexibility of the comprehensive response system in the emirate.

ABU DHABI, 4th March / WAM / Etihad Trains, with direct coordination and supervision from the Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Center of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, carried out exceptional trips along the route linking Al Ghuwaifat Station in the Al Dhafra Region and Al Faya Station in the city of Abu Dhabi, resulting in the safe and smooth transport of more than 350 passengers, before the official launch of the passenger train service.

This comes within the framework of responding to the current regional conditions and the resulting developments in travel movement.

The operation of the flights came in support of a coordinated transfer process following the temporary suspension of some aviation services and in cooperation with the competent authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which enhanced the integration of procedures and speed of implementation in accordance with the highest standards of safety and operational discipline in the context of an organized national movement to deal with regional developments.

The service was provided according to an organized and controlled mechanism, with safety protocols and approved emergency plans immediately activated to ensure that the process ran smoothly and safely, in addition to allocating the necessary technical and human resources, which ensured continuity of performance without any impact on goods transport services across the national railway network, which continued regularly and in accordance with official directives in this regard.

In this context, His Excellency Matar Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Center for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, confirmed that this step embodies the ability of the national system to move quickly in light of regional changes and reflects the strategic position of the national railway network in the UAE, and its high levels of efficiency, reliability and readiness to work in various circumstances.

His Excellency added: “The operation of the passenger service before the official launch reflects advanced institutional flexibility based on repurposing the available capabilities to serve societal priorities, without disturbing the long-term operational plans or the country’s logistical security. It also confirms the ability of the national system to make quick and thoughtful operational decisions in light of real-time assessments of the risks associated with the current circumstances.”

For his part, Engineer Mohammed Al Shehhi, Head of the Projects Sector at Etihad Rails, said: “We are proud to implement passenger transport flights, which come exceptionally in response to the current regional situation and in response to the directives of our wise leadership regarding strengthening national efforts to ensure the stability of citizens and residents in the country. This step also demonstrates the technical and operational readiness of the national railway network, the flexibility of operational systems and the competence of national cadres who contributed to operating flights with high levels of efficiency and flexibility without affecting other logistical services on the Network level. Based on our keenness to facilitate the movement of individuals, we have scheduled a number of additional flights, provided that operations will continue according to need and in continuous coordination with the competent authorities, until air traffic returns and flights are regular.

This exceptional operation confirms that the response system in the emirate operates according to a proactive approach based on institutional integration and the speed of activating alternatives when needed, and reflects the state’s ability to manage the repercussions of the current regional conditions efficiently and stably while maintaining the continuity of vital services and establishing confidence in the strength of the national infrastructure and its readiness in various scenarios.
