Witnessed by Nahyan bin Zayed…Mohamed bin Zayed Council organizes a session entitled "Lessons from the Founding Father’s thought on cooperation"

Abu Dhabi, 5 March / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Zayed Al Khair Foundation, witnessed the session organized by the Mohammed bin Zayed Council under the title “Lessons from the Founding Father’s Thought on Cooperation.”
Speaking during the session held at the Council’s headquarters in the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, His Excellency Zaki Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to His Highness the President of the State and Supreme President of the United Arab Emirates University, and Dr. Anja Merz, Academic Director for Negotiation at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, spoke.
The two speakers highlighted the founding father’s idea of cooperation by working to build trust, bridges of communication, and achieving common interests, in addition to the main elements of successful dialogue, by presenting Sheikh Zayed’s historical practical experience as a model in this field.
The session discussed the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s approach to building trust, which was based on three stages: the first stage is communication and dialogue, the second is creating value represented by common interests, goals, and collective benefits, and the third stage is making the best decisions through flexibility, openness to different opinions, evaluating them, and choosing the best one according to specific standards and values.
The two speakers also touched on the leadership and personal humanitarian traits that Sheikh Zayed displayed, the most important of which are credibility, wisdom, patience and flexibility. They recounted examples of stories drawn from his humanitarian legacy, his journey, and his steps towards establishing the federation of the UAE and building this nation.
His Excellency Zaki Nusseibeh said that Sheikh Zayed distinguished himself by being a leader who listens to others, persuades, and deals with everyone as partners in the national interest, with complete credibility and clarity, which established solid foundations for the union and strengthened the UAE’s international relations.
He recalled positions for cooperation and consultations conducted by the founding father, Sheikh Zayed, and historical negotiation mechanisms and tools, in addition to the important role of building positive relations in supporting reaching solid, sustainable agreements.
Dr. Anya also provided a detailed explanation about Sheikh Zayed’s model of cooperation, which was a fundamental pillar in achieving the development of the UAE and building its strong partnerships with countries of the world based on trust, mutual respect, and common interests, pointing to some of Sheikh Zayed’s personal traits that had an important role in the success of his endeavors to achieve his national goals.
She said that he combined humility and self-confidence, was honest and calm in difficult situations, gained the trust, appreciation and respect of others, and was able to contain everyone.
During the session, a video clip was shown in which Professor Horacio Falco, Professor of Management Practices at INSEAD, participated, while it was moderated by Najla Al Midfa, a researcher at the Trends Center for Research and Consulting.
The session also witnessed interactive questions being asked with the audience related to the session topics, with the aim of deepening the benefit of the lessons presented by the participants.
The session “Lessons from the Founding Father’s Thought on Cooperation” will be broadcast today at five o’clock in the evening on Abu Dhabi TV and the Mohammed bin Zayed Majlis channel on YouTube.
