Iran is trying to “take the world hostage”

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio accused Iran on Monday of trying to make the world its “hostage” by launching missiles and drones at countries in the Middle East in response to the US-Israeli attack on it.
“I think we all now see the threat that this religious regime poses to the region and the world,” Rubio said. “They are trying to take the world hostage.”
He added, “They are attacking neighboring countries, their energy facilities, and their civilian populations,” noting that “the goal of this mission is to destroy their ability to continue doing so, and we are on the path to achieving that.”
Rubio considered that the current regime in Iran “built its foundations, unfortunately, on attacks on the brave men and women in our foreign and civil service,” referring to the hostage crisis at the American embassy after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
